Steering away from the predictable grinder, the Norm 'Bottle Grinder' is not what you expect to see in a salt and pepper grinder. The form, shaped more like a bottle, cleverly tricks the user to encourage a more playful and experimental interaction with the product. The powerful ceramic mechanism makes the grinder easy to operate and perfect for trying out more than just salt and pepper including spices and grains, nuts, seeds or dried fruits. You simply open them, fill them with delicious ingredients and close them again. Simple as that.

The unique, inverted design ensures that whatever you fill them with only sprinkles out when you grind, leaving no trace on the table or in the kitchen. The Grinders have a bottle-like shape, which is also important to the whole experience. Designer Kasper Rønn, From a shape like this, you’d expect the content to be something liquid like oil or dressing, you’re not at all expecting dried up spices or nuts. We used this shape to surprise and somewhat trick the users. Sometimes people need a bit of a surprise in order to change their habits”. Audo Bottle Grinders have a rounded base that fits perfectly into the hands, and have a rubber surface that’s easy to grip and to clean. They come in a range of beautiful, soft Scandinavian colors. Bon appétit.

Norm Architects

Founded in Copenhagen in 2008 by Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen and Kasper Rønn, Norm Architects specialise in residential architecture, commercial interiors, industrial design, photography and art direction. The name, Norm Architects, reflects the group’s emphasis on the importance of drawing inspiration from norms and traditions within architecture and design – particularly the Scandinavian design principles of timeless aesthetics and natural materials, and the modernist values of restraint and refinement. Guided by these principles, Norm Architects produce a design that unites materials and craftsmanship, while embodying beauty, history and, most importantly, timeless simplicity, where there is nothing more to add or take away. Today, the group regularly collaborates with Audo Copenhagen, helping to drive the evolution of the brand and its product offerings —imbued with the same intrinsic quality as Norms creative direction: a simplicity that carries bigger ideas. Lead by the body and mind rather than by trends or technology, their projects explore ideas that not only look good but that also feel good: architecture becomes thoughtful, minimalism acquires softness and visual matter assumes haptic qualities.
